NAOGAON, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - Abu Bakkar Siddique Nannu and Mamunur Rahman Ripon have been elected president and general secretary of Naogaon District Unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), respectively.
The district BNP biennial council was held yesterday after 15 years, in a festive and peaceful atmosphere. The election results were announced around 12 am after the conference.
Abu Bakkar Siddique Nannu, former convener of the district BNP convening committee, was elected as president with 647 votes while his opponent former district BNP president and former mayor of Naogaon Municipality Nazmul Haque Soni received 400 votes.
Former joint convener of the committee Mamunur Rahman Ripon was elected as general secretary with 692 votes while his nearest rival former member secretary of the convening committee Bayezid Hossain Palash got 671 votes.
Besides, Nur-e Alam Mithu was elected as the 1st Organizing Secretary with 841 votes, Shafiul Azam VP Rana was elected as the 2nd Organizing Secretary with 630 votes, and Khairul Alam Golden was elected as the 3rd Organizing Secretary with 573 votes.
Earlier, at 1 pm, the BNP Rajshahi Division in-charge and Chairperson's Advisory council member, Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam declared the inauguration of the conference by performing the national and party anthems.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman addressed the conference virtually as the chief guest.
