Committee formed to probe Sada Pathor looting in Sylhet, ACC inspects spot

SYLHET, Aug 13, 2025 (BSS) - The Sylhet district administration has formed an investigation committee to probe into the unprecedented white stone looting in Bholaganj Sada Pathor area under Companiganj upazila of the district. 
 
The three-member committee was formed headed by an additional deputy commissioner and asked to submit its report by next Sunday. 
 
Meanwhile, a team from the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), Sylhet led by its deputy director Rafi Md Nazmus Sadat visited the Sada Pathor tourist spot and collected various evidence and information about the white stone looting.
 
Describing the looting of the white stone as a matter of grief, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Sher Mahbub Murad said that a committee was formed to investigate what is happening in the Sada Pathor area and to find oiut why. 
 
The Deputy Commissioner also said that we have called a meeting today to review the matter. 
 
ACC Sylhet office deputy director Rafi Md Nazmus Sadat told the media that they will send today's inspection report to the head office and then the next steps will be taken under their instructions. 
 
"We are trying to find all those involved in this loot. Then legal action will be taken," he said. 
 
When asked who is involved in this looting, he said that there are many stone crusher mills in the vicinity and stone is taken from here and crushed. 
 
"Besides, I am hearing that influential people, local residents, many other high-ranking businessmen and influential people are involved in the looting," he said.
