Coast Guard rescues 8 fishermen adrift on boat

BAGERHAT Aug 18, 2025 (BSS)- The Coast Guard has rescued 8 fishermen from the 
fishing boat "FB Mayer Doa" that was adrift at sea for 3 days due to a broken 
shaft. 

Coast Guard Headquarters media officer Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Siam-ul-
Haq, confirmed the information to BSS this morning.

The fishing boat named "FB Mayer Doa" went to sea with 8 fishermen for 
fishing on August 14. On the way, the shaft broke due to a mechanical fault 
and the boat continued to float in the deep sea. 

After coming under the mobile network after 3 days, on Sunday at 10 am, one 
of the fishermen on the boat called the Coast Guard emergency service number 
and informed about the matter. 

Based on the information, the Coast Guard ship "Swadhin Bangla" patrolling 
the sea immediately located the boat and successfully rescued all eight crew 
members from the sea area of buoy number 5 adjacent to Mongla Fairway. 

The rescued fishermen are Abdur Razzak, Md Faruk, Md Kamal, Alam, Md Zakaria, 
Md Sajeeb, Rakib are residents of Pirojpur district and Md Rakib of Barguna 
district. The owner of the boat is Md Razzak. 

The rescued fishermen were provided with first aid and necessary food and the 
boat was safely taken to the river bank adjacent to Harbaria, confirmed the 
media officer.
