THAKURGAON, Aug 22, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) police arrested four individuals with 3100 yaba tablets during a drive in Thakurgaon.

The arrestees were identified as Asraful Islam, 37, of Baliadangi upazila; Nur Jamal, 28, and Rajib Rana, 22, of Kismat Palashbari-Maldahapara village and Motaleb Haque, 22, of Dakshin Parua village.

DB police said the arrests were made Thursday afternoon during a raid on the Nekmrod-Katihar road under Ranishankail Police Station, following a tip-off that a large consignment of Yaba was coming from Cox's Bazar.

A total of 3,100 Yaba pills, a motorcycle, and four mobile phones were seized during the operation.

"Initially, only a few pills were found on them. But during interrogation, the suspects admitted they had concealed more Yaba tablets inside their bodies," said Sub-Inspector Nabiul Islam of the DB.

The drugs were later recovered from their stomachs. Another youth, who arrived on a motorcycle to pick them up, was also arrested, police said.

District DB Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mamun Or Rashid confirmed the arrests, adding that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act with Ranishankail Police Station.
