MANIKGANJ, Aug 23, 2025 (BSS) - A traditional boat race was held today at Beutha Point on the Kaliganga River under the auspices of the Manikganj District Administration, with the theme 'Protect the water pollution for building the clean Bangladesh"'.

Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest.

Thousands of people from all walks of life, including men and women, attended the event and enjoyed the race with great enthusiasm.

Four groups of boats participated in the competition: Chhipa/Ghasi/Pansi, Chhandi, Goita and Khella. 

The first prize in each group received a refrigerator, the second prize an LED television, and the third prize a microwave. 

Additionally, the champion group was awarded a motorcycle.

Among the special guests were Manikganj District Senior Session Judge Mohammad Liaqat Ali Molla; Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossein Malla; Superintendent of Police Yasmin Khatun; Afroza Khanam Rita, Convenor of Manikganj District BNP and Advisory Council Member of BNP Chairperson and Manikganj Press Club President Zahangir Alam Biswas along with General Secretary Shahanur Islam.
