2 arrested over teen's murder in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 23, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested two individuals today in connection with a case filed over the killing of a teenager in a mob beating at Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram.

The deceased, Rihan, was attacked in the early hours of Friday while returning home with two friends. 

Locals tied the three boys to a bridge and beat them on suspicion of theft. Rihan died on the spot, while his friends, Mohammad Manik and Mohammad Rahat, sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital.

Rihan's mother, Khadija Begum, lodged a case with Fatikchhari Thana against five named individuals and seven others unidentified.

Police have so far arrested Muhammad Noman, 22, and Muhammad Azad, 23, residents of Madhyam Kanchannagar village. 

The two were produced before court today and subsequently sent to jail.

Three other suspects, identified as Nazim Uddin, Muhammad Taiyab, and Mohiuddin- are still on the run.

OC Nur Ahmad of Fatikchhari Thana confirmed the case and arrests, stating that the attack was reportedly a planned act of revenge following an earlier dispute. Police are working to apprehend the remaining suspects.
