Motorcyclist killed in Thakurgaon road accident

THAKURGAON, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS)- A motorcycle rider was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Notunpara area under Nekmarad Kumarganj on the Baliadangi-Ranishankail highway in Ranishankail upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Jasim, 30, son of Soleman Ali, hailed from Kashipur union of the upazila. 

Quoting to the eyewitnesses, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ranishankail Police Station Md. Arshedul Haque said, "The accident occurred at around 12:30 pm while a motorcycle was heading towards Baliadangi from Ranishankail in the afternoon. At that time, it collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, leaving motocycle rider Jasim dead on the spot 
and injuring three others."

Being informed, fire service personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to the Upazila Health Complex.

The injured are Muktarul Islam, 35, son of Jamal and his wife Mosha Sultana, 25, of Bhardangi village in Haripur upazila and Sanjay Roy, 27, son of Anindra Roy of Mahajan Hat area in Baliadangi upazila.

Of the wounded, one was referred to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated, said Dr. Firoz Alam, resident medical officer (RMO) of Ranishankail Upazila Health Complex.

An investigation into the matter is underway and legal action will be taken later, the OC added.
