NCRP conducts drives to control Hilsa prices in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS)- The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (NCRP) today conducted drives at Chandpur's largest hilsa landing station, Boro Station Mach (Fish) Ghat, to curb unreasonable price hikes and ensure consumer rights.

NCRP Assistant Director Abdullah Al Imran led the drive.

The drive includes checking documents of hilsa traders and issuing warnings. 

District Fisheries Officer, officials from the Agriculture Marketing Department, the sanitary inspector, and members of Ansar were also present during the drive.

After conducting drives NCRP AD Imran said the operation aimed to monitor market irregularities and ensure fair pricing.

He warned that traders involved in deliberate manipulation or creating artificial shortages would face legal action.

Additionally, two separate fines amounting Tk 10,000 were imposed on local businesses for unhygienic food preparation and unauthorized storage of fuel and gas.
