Two held with firearm, bullets in Jashore

JASHORE, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested two individuals along with a foreign-made pistol, two magazines, and two bullets from a covered van in Chanchra area under Sadar upazila of the district last night.

The arrestees were identified as Md Farhad Hossain, 32, son of Md Abdul Awal, and Shakib Hossain, 19, son of Afzal Hossain Biswas-both residents of Bhaberber village in Sharsha upazila of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) police intercepted a covered van near the BADC building in Chanchra area on the Jashore-Benapole highway around 10:30 pm.

"During the search, police recovered one foreign-made pistol, two magazines and two bullets from the vehicle and arrested the duo on the spot," said Detective Branch Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Haque.

A case was filed with Jashore Kotwali Police Station in this connection.

The arrested were produced before the court and subsequently sent to jail today, the OC added.
