CHATTOGRAM, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS)- An elderly woman died and three members of her family were injured in a fire that broke out at Mollar Bari in the Mohora area of Chattogram city in the early hours of today.

The deceased was identified as Geeta Rani Ghosh, 68. The injured are Biplob Ghosh, Kona Ghosh, and Shashi Ghosh, who are currently undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital, confirmed Md Fakhruddin, senior station officer of Kalurghat Fire Station.

The fire originated at their residence in Moulovibazar under Chandgaon Thana around 2:45 am due to an electrical short circuit, and quickly spread to the surrounding area, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room.

Three firefighting units from different stations rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control by 4:00 am, Fakhruddin said.
