BGB seizes illegal teak wood in Baghaichhari

RANGAMATI, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-27 Marishya Zone in a drive seized a huge quantity of illegal teak wood in Baghaichhari upazila of the district today. 

On a tip-off, a BGB team conducted a drive in Marishya area this morning and seized 290 cubic feet teak wood worth about Taka 4.35 lakh, said Lt. Col. Zahidul Islam Zahid, Zone Commander of Marishya Zone.

Sensing the presence of the BGB team, smugglers fled away leaving the wood, he said.

BGB has been conducting regular anti-smuggling drives in the area to stop smuggling, he added.
