Two workers die while cleaning septic tank in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS)- Two construction workers died after 
reportedly inhaling toxic gas while cleaning a septic tank at Ashia village 
under Patiya upazila of the district this morning.

The victims were identified as Md Nazim Uddin, 24, son of Solaiman Chowdhury, 
and Md Tarek Hasan, 20, son of Abdul Alim, both hailed from Ashia village.

According to locals, the two men entered the long-abandoned septic tank at 
one house in the Dakshin Ashia area around 9am to clean it. When they failed 
to respond for an extended period, residents alerted the Fire Service, who 
later recovered their bodies from inside the tank.

A team of Patiya Fire Station later arrived at the scene and recovered their 
bodies, according to the Agrabad Fire Service.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patiya Police Station Md Nuruzzaman said a team of 
the police visited the scene and further steps would be taken after an 
investigation.
