CHATTOGRAM, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS) - Joint forces in a drive today uncovered a locally operated arms manufacturing factory and seized a significant stock of weapons and ammunition from the Chinnamul Slum area under Salimpur Union in Sitakunda Upazila.

Acting on secret intelligence, a joint team of the Army and police raided a hut in Salimpur early this morning, tracing the gang's hideout where the suspects had been engaged in the illegal production of arms.

The arrestees were identified as Kamrul Hasan Redwan, 35, son of Foyez Ahmed of Chanua village under Banshkhali in Chattogram; Md Rumon, 25, son of Md Nurul Islam of Fakir Jhum Para under Moheshkhali Upazila in Cox's Bazar; Md Ashik, 35, son of Md Morshed of Jangal Salimpur under Sitakunda Upazila and Amir Islam, 40, son of Joynal Abedin of South Hatiya in Noakhali district.

All four had been residing in the Jangal Salimpur area for a long time to conduct their illegal activities. The area is reportedly notorious as a haven for criminal operations.

During the operation, law enforcement personnel arrested four suspects and recovered six locally made firearms, 40 rounds of live and blank cartridges, a Chinese axe, 20 machetes, two walkie-talkies, a megaphone, four parachute flares and other equipment used in arms production.
