RANGPUR, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Rangpur district Ganosamhati Andolon has strongly condemned the atrocious attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad president and a top leader of the July Uprising Nurul Haque Nur in the capital on Friday.

In a joint statement, Touhidur Rahman, convener of the Rangpur district of Gono Odhikar Parishad, and Mufakhkharul Islam Moon, member-secretary, today strongly condemned and protested against the attack on the leaders and activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad, including its president Nurul Haque Nur, General Secretary Rashed Khan.

They said that the brutal attack on Nurul Haque Nur is totally unacceptable. The way he was attacked is a criminal offence. “We wish Nur and his leaders a speedy recovery,” they said and called for immediate action against those involved in the incident.

They said that the brutal attack was not only on Nur, but also on the spirit of the democratic movement against fascism that brought the nation together in its historic July Uprising 2024 and the nation’s struggle for justice and accountability.

Calling Nur as a firm campaigner of democracy and justice, they called on the interim government for conducting a comprehensive and fair inquiry into this dreadful attack with highest importance and bringing the culprits to book.

They demanded immediate arrest of the criminals involved in the heinous attacks on Nur and his party leaders, and banning of all fascist forces and their allies from politics on the soil of the new Bangladesh gained through the July Uprising 2024.
