Protest march held over attacking Nur in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 31, 2025 (BSS) - District unit of Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) and its associate organisations held a protest march over attacking its president and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and other leaders in Dhaka.
 
The protest march was brought out from the Press Club, paraded through the important city streets and ended at the same Press Club premises On Saturday afternoon. 
 
Later, member of the party's Higher Council Hanif Khan Sajeeb, former convener of the district Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Imran Ahmed, Senior Joint General Secretary of GOP district unit Abdul Jalil Ratan, among others, spoke at a rally. 
 
Hanif Khan Sajeeb said VP Nur is a symbol of courage in the country. "We strongly protest this. At the same time, a larger movement will be formed if action is not taken against the attackers," he said. 
 
The speakers strongly condemned the dreadful attack on Nurul Haque Nur in the capital, saying it as unacceptable. 
 
The attack was not only on Nur, but also on the spirit of the democratic movement against fascism that brought the nation together in its historic July Uprising 2024, they said.
 
They called on the interim government for conducting a fair inquiry into this terrible attack and bringing the culprits under the law of the land.
