CUMILLA, Aug 31, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing a housewife in Sadar upazila of the district in 2019.
Judge of Public Safety Crimes Prevention Tribunal and Special Sessions Judge Court Mohammad Saifur Rahman pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict.
The court also fined the convict Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer three months more in jail, State lawyer Advocate Yusuf Ali confirmed.
The convicted accused Delwar Hossain, 36, son of late Abdur Rahman of Hatigara village in Kalirbazar union of Comilla Sadar upazila.
According to prosecution, on November 5, 2019, convict Delwar killed his neighbor Shanu Begum, 50, over previous enmity.
Locals caught Delwar and handed him over to the police. On the same day, the deceased's husband Farid Mia filed a case with Kotwali Model Police Station in this connection.
