Week-long tree fair begins in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, Sept 1, 2025 (BSS) - A seven-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair began today in the district with the slogan of 'Let's do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh.'

Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed inaugurated the campaign and fair at a function organized by the district administration and Forest Department at the Eidgah ground of the town this morning.

A colorful rally, tree plantation, and discussion meeting were also held.

During this time, checks worth Taka 18 lakh 72 thousand were distributed among 74 participants. 

Seedlings of various species of fruits, flowers and forest trees are being displayed in 24 stalls in the fair. 

Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed in his speech said that tree plantation is essential for maintaining the ecological balance, supplying pure oxygen, controlling temperature, enhancing natural beauty, preventing land erosion, floods and droughts.

Superintendent of Police Md. Abdullah Al Faruk, Divisional Forest Officer Abu Yusuf, Assistant Conservator of Forests of the Coastal Forest Department AKM Arif Uz Zaman and Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Officer Ibrahim Khalil, among others, were present at the time.
