House painter electrocuted in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ, Sept 1, 2025 (BSS) - A house painter died from electrocution while working near his residence at Purba Tarakandi village under Ramdi Union in Kuliarchar upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Bashad Mia, 24, son of Amru Mia of the same area.

According to locals, Bashad came into contact with a live electric wire around 11:30 am while working. His mother, Helena Akhter, was also electrocuted when she tried to rescue him.

Both were immediately rescued by locals and taken to Bhagalpur Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared Bashad dead. His mother received primary treatment and was later discharged.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kuliarchar Police Station, Md. Helal Uddin, confirmed the incident.
