3 held in Manikganj for making fake NID

MANIKGANJ, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS) - Three individuals were sent to jail in connection with making fake National Identity Card (NID) in Manikganj.

The accused were identified as Sohanur Rahman, 22, of village Ghosta under Putail Union of Manikganj Sadar upazila; Arif Hossain, 36, of village Beutha under Manikganj Pourashava and Monir Hossain, 45, of village Pashchim Uriajani.

According to sources, Sohanur Rahman contacted Arif Hossain and paid Tk. 16,000 to obtain an NID. Arif Hossain allegedly produced the NID using forged signatures, official seals and the designation of the Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Manikganj. 

The accused also used fake signatures and seals purporting to be from the Manikganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), who is currently serving as the Administrator of Putail Union Parishad.

Acting on secret information, Sheikh Mejba-Ul Saberina, UNO of Manikganj Sadar, conducted a special drive at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the Sadar upazila election office area, leading to the detention of the three individuals.

A case was filed with Manikganj Sadar Police Station and the arrestees were handed over to the police. The accused reportedly confessed to the allegations during initial interrogation.

Officer-in-Charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station, SM Aman Ullah, said that following proper procedures, the accused were produced in court yesterday evening, which sent all three to jail.
