Drug dealer held with foreign liquor worth Tk 10 lakh in Mongla

BAGERHAT, March 13, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested an alleged drug dealer along with 197 bottles of foreign liquor worth around Tk 10 lakh in an operation in Mongla upazila of the district.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the matter to BSS on Friday night.

He said a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Station Harbaria on Friday afternoon based on a tip-off. The drive was carried out around 5 pm in an area adjacent to Chila Bazar under Mongla Police Station.

During the operation, Coast Guard personnel arrested a suspected drug dealer and seized 197 bottles of foreign liquor valued at approximately Tk 10 lakh from his possession.

The Coast Guard official said the process of handing over the arrested individual along with the seized liquor to Mongla Police Station is currently underway for further legal action.
