MANIKGANJ, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - A father and his son have been arrested for allegedly attacking police officers in Manikganj sadar upazila.

The arrested individuals are Giash Uddin (50), son of Mongal Hossain, and his son Roni Mia (18), residents of Moheshpur village under Jagir union in Manikganj sadar upazila.

According to Manikganj Sadar Police Station sources, 80-year-old Mongal Hossain filed a complaint against his son and grandson, accusing them of neglecting him and forcibly evicting him from his own home.

In response to the complaint, a police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal Hossain visited the accused's house on Sunday afternoon for investigation. During the visit, an altercation broke out between the police and the accused, during which Giash Uddin and Roni Mia allegedly attacked the officers, injuring them.

Following the incident, additional police were dispatched from Manikganj Police Station to the scene. The injured officers were rescued, and both accused were taken into custody.

The wounded officers were admitted to Manikganj 250-Bed General Hospital for treatment. Dr. Mustafizu Rahman, the on-duty emergency physician, confirmed that SI Kamal Hossain sustained an injury to his nose.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Manikganj Police Station, Aminul Islam, said that the accused were produced before the court in the evening.
