Mobile court conducted to protect mother Hilsa in Tangail

TANGAIL, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court was conducted at Kalihati upazila of the district today to implement the ban announced by the government during the main breeding season of the fish.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sayeda Khanam Liza conducted the operation in the Jamuna river on Monday afternoon. 

During the drive, hilsa fish and 7,500 meters of banned current nets were seized. Later, the nets were burned and destroyed. The seized hilsa fish were distributed to a local madrasah. 

In addition, a total of Taka 4,000 fine was imposed on the accused in two separate cases as per Section 5 of the Fisheries Protection and Conservation (Amendment) Ordinance 2025. 

Such operations will continue until October 25 to protect mother hilsa.
