Smuggled goods worth Tk 1.25 cr seized in Sylhet

SYLHET, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives seized smuggled goods worth Taka 1.25 crore from different border area in Sylhet today.

Different patrol teams from Tamabil, Pratappur, Sangram, Panthumai, Damdamiya and Banglabazar BOPs, under BGB-48 Sylhet Battalion conducted the drives and seized the goods including Indian sarees, buffaloes, cumin, cows, onions, chocolates, body sprays, sugar, various types of creams, face wash, soap, hair gel, shampoo and beer.

In addition, a trolley used for illegal sand transportation was also seized. 

Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Md. Nazmul Haque confirmed this information and said that BGB's operational activities and intelligence activities are continuing in full swing to maintain security at the border, prevent smuggling and drug trafficking. 

Further legal action will be taken as per the rules regarding the seized goods.
