3 fishermen held for fishing illegally in Sundarbans

KHULNA, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) – Forest guards have detained three fishermen along with a trawler for illegally catching fish in the Alorkol area of the eastern Sundarbans on Monday.

The arrested fishermen were identified as Ashraf Ali Molla, Md Shahid, and Md Saghir — all residents of Char Duani village under Patharghata Upazila of Barguna.

According to the Forest Department, a patrol team from the Dublarchar Forest Outpost and the Sharankhola Smart Patrolling Unit carried out the raid in the Moronchar area under the Alorkol Outpost this morning.

Sharankhola Range Officer (ACF) Rana Dev confirmed the seizure, stating that forest officials confiscated 250 hilsa fish, a 300-meter-long fishing net, and other equipment from their possession.
