Unauthorized water factory sealed in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department sealed a water packaging factory named Sata Packaged Drinking Water and imposed a fine of Tk 2 lakh for producing and selling water without approval from the authority in Maijpara area of Khwaja Road under Chandgaon Thana here. 
 
Three other commercial establishments were fined Tk 15,000 in the same operation led by Mohammad Faiz Ullah on Monday.
 
The Consumer Affairs Department sources revealed that the Sata Packaged Drinking Water factory in Maijpara had been operating without BSTI approval for a long time. 
 
Additionally, the factory was found producing fake 'staring power oil' under the guise of the company. The factory was fined Tk two lakh and temporarily sealed for these violations.
 
During the operation, fines of Tk five thousand each were collected from Zainab Medical Hall and Janani Medicine Hall for selling expired medicines and Al Hasan business establishment was fined Tk five thousand for selling expired sweets in the same area. 

Faiz Ullah said that such enforcement drives will continue to safeguard consumer interests.
 
Assistant Director Md. Anisur Rahman, Assistant Director Mahmuda Akhter, and a team of CMP Police were present during the drive.
