Missing teenager's body recovered in Sundarganj

GAIBANDHA, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - The body of a teenage boy who went missing while bathing in the Ghagot River was recovered yesterday afternoon through efforts of a diver's team from Rangpur.

The deceased was identified as Labu Khan, 17, son of Matiar Rahman of Bamondanga Bazar area under Sundarganj upazila of the district.

Locals said Labu went to the river with his father for bathing when he suddenly went missing after dipping into the water. Locals tried to rescue him but failed.

Later, a diver's team from Rangpur launched a search and recovered the body from downstream of the river in the afternoon.

The body was later handed over to the victim's family.

Golzar Hossain Mondal, sub-officer of Sundarganj Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense office, confirmed the incident.
