NATORE, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - To combat the adverse impacts of climate change and reduce casualties caused by lightning strikes a weeklong palm seed plantation programme began today in Natore.

As part of the programme, 20,000 palm seeds are being planted in Baraigram and Gurudaspur upazilas under the district.

The weeklong programme was inaugurated at 9:00am in the Gurudaspur Municipality premises by Maulana Md Abdul Hakim, Assistant Secretary of the district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami and party-nominated candidate for the Natore-4 constituency.

Later in the day, a similar inauguration event was held in the Bonpara Municipality premises.

The Gurudaspur and Baraigram upazila units of Jamaat-e-Islami are jointly implementing the tree plantation initiative.

Around 2,000 palm seeds will be planted in each of the 13 unions and three municipalities of the two upazilas throughout the week.
