Vishnu idol worth Taka 40 lakh recovered in Naogaon

NAOGAON, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) – A team of RAB-5 has recovered a Vishnu idol worth about Taka 40 lakh from a mango orchard in Porsha Upazila of Naogaon district.

Acting on a tip-off about the smuggling of the idol, Crime Prevention Company-3 of RAB-5, based in Joypurhat, conducted an operation on Thursday night in a mango orchard at Doyahar village under Tetulia Union of the upazila, according to a press release.

During the operation, the team recovered the Vishnu idol, made of black touchstone, in an abandoned state.

The smugglers managed to flee the scene upon sensing the presence of law enforcement personnel, the release added.
The idol was handed over to Porsha Police Station for further legal proceedings. Intelligence efforts are underway to apprehend the smugglers, the release further added.
