BGB seizes smuggled Indian goods in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a variety of smuggled goods, including Indian saris and cosmetics, from the Satkhira border area.

According to the BGB, acting on tip-offs, a special team from the Bhomra BOP recovered Indian saris and cosmetics from the Bashkal area of Satkhira Sadar upazila.

Meanwhile, another team from the Gazipur BOP confiscated Indian medicine from the Gazipur area under the same upazila. A team from the Madra BOP seized six bottles of Indian liquor along with medicine from Chand Ambagan in Kalaroa.

The total market value of the seized goods is estimated at Taka 1,087,400.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ashraful Haque, Commander of the Satkhira 33 BGB Battalion, said the confiscated Indian goods have been deposited with Satkhira Customs, while the narcotics have been handed over to the Satkhira Department of Narcotics Control for public destruction after filing a general diary (GD).
