Five human traffickers held in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today arrested five active members of a human trafficking group in Teknaf upazila of the district. 

The arrestees were identified as Syed Alam, 29; Md. Abdullah, 22; Md. Ridwan Hossain, 20; Md. Nurul Afsar, 20; and Md. Abdul Hakim, 40. All are residents of the Dakkhin Lambari Para area of Teknaf upazila.

Lieutenant Colonel Ashiqur Rahman, Commander of the Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion, confirmed the matter.

According to BGB, several organized gangs from Marine Drive and its surrounding areas have recently become active in smuggling, drug trafficking, and human trafficking through the deep sea.

"Following this operation, we were able to arrest five members of an organized trafficking ring red-handed and foiled an attempt to traffic a large number of people from Myanmar," said Colonel Ashiqur Rahman.
