KHULNA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested a Union Parishad chairman along with a foreign made pistol and a private car at zero point area in the city last night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) went an operation last night at the zero point area and arrested Abu Zafar Siddiqi Razu, 45, Number-1Haridhali UP chairman of Paikgachha upazila in Khulna, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of DB of KMP Taymur Islam.

Son of late Rafique Uddin Sardar who was also the UP chairman of the same UP, was under detective surveillance since the last few months, he said.

Police also seized a foreign pistol and his personal private car from his possession, he said, adding that he was accused in different cases and was absconding since long.

He is being interrogated at the KMP headquarter, Taymur added.
