RANGPUR, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested Rangpur Metropolitan Awami Swechchhasebak League (ASL) Organizing Secretary Iftekharul Islam Shuvo in a case of attempted murder and attack on the anti-discrimination student movement.
“We have arrested Iftekharul Islam Shuvo from the Medical Mour area of the city at about 12:30 pm today,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md Ataur Rahman told BSS tonight.
Iftekharul Islam Shuvo is a resident of the city’s Dhumkhatia area under Mahiganj Metropolitan Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
He is accused in a case of attempted murder and assault filed by Md Rabiul Islam at the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station on August 31, 2024.
“We produced Iftekharul Islam Shuvo before the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court, which subsequently sent him to jail this afternoon,” the OC added.
