Wife killed by husband in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - A housewife was allegedly chopped to death by her husband at Boro Tajpur village in Sadar upazila last night.

The victim was identified as Rokeya Begum, 45, wife of Zahir Uddin of the same area.

Police arrested Zahir Uddin, 52, after the incident, said Tambirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station.

Police said Zahir hit his wife Rokeya on the head with a sharp weapon over a family feud last night, leaving her dead on the spot.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and arrested Zahir this morning. They recovered the body and sent it to Joypurhat Modern General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed in this connection.
