GAIBANDHA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - More than one hundred passengers narrowly escaped a potentially tragic rail accident when the Burimari Express experienced a mechanical failure at Bamondanga Railway Station in Sundarganj upazila on Friday evening.
According to Station Master Md. Haiyul Miah, the Lalmonirhat-bound Burimari Express, which had departed from Dhaka, made a scheduled stop at Bamondanga station around 6:15pm. Shortly after the train resumed its journey, a loud bang was heard as the hooks connecting four of the compartments to the engine broke apart, triggering panic among passengers.
Fortunately, the disconnection occurred soon after departure, preventing the detached compartments from being involved in any serious mishap. All passengers inside the affected coaches remained unharmed.
A replacement hook was later brought from Lalmonirhat, and after repairs were completed, the train resumed its journey without further issues. Train movement on the route remained normal, and no casualties or injuries were reported, the station master confirmed.
