1,000 saplings planted in Madaripur

MADARIPUR, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - In an effort to protect the environment and make the district greener, voluntary organizations Alor Pathshala and anti-drug movement Pakhira have planted 1,000 Krishnachura (Royal Poinciana) and Jarul (Queen Crape Myrtle) saplings in Sadar upazila.

The day-long programme was held today at Pakhira area under Khowajpur union in Sadar upazila. 

The organizations have already planted 2,000 saplings in different parts of the district.

Asaduzzaman Saif, general secretary of Alor Pathshala, said, "We have taken the initiative to plant trees in response to the cutting of a banyan tree in Kandi area of Alammir in Shirkhara union. Today, we planted 1,000 Krishnachura and Jarul saplings. Our dream is to plant 100,000 trees across Madaripur. We also want the youth to stay away from drugs and come forward to protect nature and the environment."

Bayjid Mia, founder of 'Pashe Achi' Madaripur, Dadan Hossain, vice-president of Pakhira, volunteer Fakhruddin Raji and leaders of various organizations were present at the programme.
