CUMILLA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a youth named Sajib from Etbarpur area in Chandina upazila for his involvement in the brutal murder of another young man, Aminul Islam, in Cumilla.

Major Sadman Ibne Alam, Company Commander of RAB-11 at its Shaktola camp, told journalists on Saturday that the arrest was made following intensive investigation using modern technology and intelligence sources.

According to RAB, Sajib and his accomplices lured Aminul Islam, a resident of Cumilla Sadar Dakkhin upazila, with the promise of a lucrative job and extorted Tk 10 lakh from him on September 9. The following night, on September 10, the gang took Aminul to a remote location at Mostofapur village, where they hacked him to death. In an attempt to conceal the crime, the perpetrators buried his body under sand.

Aminul had reportedly left home around 8:30pm on September 8, telling his family he was going to Sylhet with friends. His body was later recovered by police on September 11 from the Mostofapur area and sent to Cumilla General Hospital for autopsy.

Following the arrest, RAB seized a hasua (locally used sharp weapon), a blood-stained shirt, and a mobile phone from Sajib's possession. During primary interrogation, Sajib confessed his involvement in the killing, said Major Sadman.

The accused has since been handed over to Cumilla Sadar Dakkhin Police Station for further legal action.
