19 artists receive Shilpakala Academy awards in Lakshmipur

LAKSHMIPUR, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - Nineteen artists were honored with Shilpakala Academy awards in the district in recognition of their contributions to arts and literature.

The awards were presented at a ceremony held on Friday evening at the Lakshmipur Town Hall and Public Library auditorium around 8 pm.

The ceremony, organized by the District Shilpakala Academy, acknowledged the contributions of artists from 2017 to 2021.

The awards were distributed across seven categories, recognizing excellence in vocal music, drama, recitation, instrumental music, fine arts, Jatra art, and folk music.

Recipients in vocal music included Swapan Kumar Nandi, Sudeb Chandra Das, Lipika Singha Roy, Sunanda Kar, and Monika Chakraborty.

Drama awards went to Tinku Ranjan Mallick, Subhash Chandra Chowdhury, Shaibal Kandi Saha, Muhammad Mostafa Faruk, and Mohammad Mahatab Uddin.
Rafia Akhter and Helal Uddin Mahmud were honored in recitation, while Alok Chakraborty and Md. Omar Faruk received awards for instrumental music.

Dipan Kumar Das and Abul Kashem Khoka were recognized in fine arts.
Chameli Pal and Belayet Hossain were awarded in Jatra art, while Pran Govinda Das received the award for folk music.

Lakshmipur Deputy Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarkar attended the event as the chief guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Samrat Khisa chaired the programme.

Deputy Director of Local Government Division Jasim Uddin and Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mohammad Rezaul Haque were present as special guests on the occasion.

Following the award distribution, a cultural programme was presented for the audience with participation from Shilpakala Academy artists.
