Restaurants fined for preparing food in unhygienic conditions in Bogura

BOGURA, Sept 14, 2025 (BSS) - The National Consumer Rights Protection Department and the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority today fined two restaurant Taka 1 lakh for preparing food in unhygienic conditions and storing expired food in the town's Baubazar area today.

The joint drive, conducted from 11 am to 1 pm, was led by Mehedi Hasan,
Assistant Director of the Bogura Consumer Rights Protection Department and Md. Russell, Safe Food Officer. 

During the inspection, officials found the kitchens of 'Sujon Bharta Hotel' and 'Bharta Hotel' in a filthy condition where hygiene rules were ignored. Expired food was stored in refrigerators, banned chemicals (hydrose) were in use and cockroaches were found in the kitchen, said Assistant Director Mehedi Hasan. 

In addition, evidence was found of illegal use of domestic gas for commercial purpose.

For these violations, both restaurants were fined Taka 50,000 each. 

Mehedi Hasan further said that if the kitchens are not renovated and the district office is not informed within 15 days, stricter action will be taken.

He also warned that such drives will continue if health regulations are not maintained.
