KHULNA, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) will remain vigilant to ensure law and order during Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, scheduled to be held from September 28 to October 2.

KMP will provide full professional support and carry out its duties with utmost sincerity and cordiality to ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations.

Additional Commissioner of KMP (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Rashedul Islam Khan said this while presiding over a views-exchange meeting with leaders of the City Unit Puja Udjapon Parishad (PUP) and the City Unit Hindu Buddhist and Christian Kallyan Front (HBCKF) at KMP headquarters last night.

He said all necessary security measures have been taken - from idol-making to immersion - to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents.

He urged leaders of the Puja Udjapon Parishad to deploy their own volunteers at every puja mandap to assist law enforcement and ensure round-the-clock security.

He also requested everyone to immediately inform the national emergency service 999 or the officer-in-charge of the respective police station if any incident occurs.

Meanwhile, officers-in-charge (OCs) of all metropolitan police stations under KMP have already started visiting the puja mandaps.

President of the City Puja Udjapon Parishad Shyamol Halder, General Secretary Proshanta Kumar Kundu, presidents and general secretaries of all PS units of the Parishad, President of HBCKF Sujona Joly, and senior KMP officials were present at the meeting.
