Huge current nets seized in Halda River

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 25, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in a drive has seized about 3,500 meters of current nets and eight fishing implements from the Halda River, known as a natural fish breeding ground.

During the drive, two people were fined Taka 5,000 each.

Raujan Assistant Commissioner (Land) Aung Ching Marma confirmed the matter and said the operation was conducted from Wednesday afternoon until night on the river.

He added that the upazila administration is determined to protect the biodiversity of the Halda River and preserve the natural fish breeding ground, and such operations will continue to prevent illegal fishing.
