RANGPUR, Sept 26, 2025 (BSS) – Three people including a mother and her one-year baby were killed and three others injured in a fatal road accident at the Domdoma area on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway in the outskirts of the city today.

The accident occurred at 4am today when a sand-laden truck hit a pick-up van killing three people and injuring three others, said OC of Tajhat thana Shahjahan Ali.

The deceased were identified as Shahina Begum, 28, wife of Motaleb Hossain and her baby Walid Hossain Swadhin of the Satdorgah area and helper of the pickup van Arif Hossain, 20.

The seriously injured pickup van driver Nishat Mia has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Shahina Begum's brother-in-law and his wife, who received injuries in the accident, were given primary treatment.

Police seized both vehicles. However the truck driver and his assistant are absconding. 

A case has been filed in this connection.
