RANGPUR, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused in abduction and rape case and rescued the kidnapped teenage girl of Gaibandha from village Balanipur under Saidpur police station of Nilphamari on Wednesday.

 
"The arrested kidnapper and rapist is Md Shafiul Islam, 30, son of Abdur Rahim of village Feska under Gobindaganj police station of Gaibandha district," a press release said this noon. 

 
According to the release, accused Shafiul Islam, had offered to have an illicit relationship with the victim at various times but the victim repeatedly rejected his proposal. 

On August 6, 2025, the main accused with the help of his accomplices, forcibly abducted her and raped her, the release added.

 
Later, the victim's father filed a case of abduction and rape at the Gobindaganj police station of Gaibandha district on September 3, 2025.

 
A joint team of RAB-13's Nilphamari Camp and RAB-14's Jamalpur Camp in a raid arrested the main accused Shafiul Islam from village Balanipur in Gobindaganj police station of Gaibandha and rescued the victim at 4:05 am on Wednesday. 

 
The arrested main accused along with the rescued victim have been handed over to Gobindaganj police station in Gaibandha, the release further said.
