CHATTOGRAM, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) - Eight factories of Pacific Jeans in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) resumed operations today.
Nearly 40,000 workers, along with over 4,000 staff and officials, returned to work peacefully this morning, said Chattogram Industrial Police Superintendent Abdullah Al Mahmud. Law enforcement agencies are maintaining regular surveillance across the CEPZ area.
The factories-Pacific Jeans-1, Pacific Jeans-2, Pacific Attire, Pacific Accessories, Pacific Workwears, Universal Jeans, HT Fashion, and Jeans 2000-had been closed on October 16 under Section 12(1) of the Bangladesh EPZ Labour Law 2019.
The management announced the reopening following improved conditions and a favorable environment, urging all officers and workers to maintain discipline and ensure smooth production activities.
Earlier, on October 14, some units of the group observed a strike, which escalated into protests and clashes on October 16.
Pacific Group, one of the country's leading export-oriented garment manufacturers, employs over 40,000 workers across its eight factories in CEPZ.
