Man held with 1,352 litres of stolen soybean oil in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested an alleged robber and recovered 1,352 litres of soybean oil and a covered van from his possession in Chatri Union under Anwara Upazila of the district.

The arrested individual was identified as Sujan Dutta, 45, son of Dilip Dutta of the area. He is believed to be a member of an inter-district robbery gang.

According to SI Pradeep Dey of Patiya Police Station, a mini covered van carrying soybean oil from Smile Food Products Limited was robbed in the Nayahat area of Patiya on Thursday morning. During the incident, the driver was assaulted, and the thieves fled with cash, mobile phones, and the oil-laden vehicle.

Following the robbery, company official Shah Julhas filed a case with Patiya Police Station. Subsequently, police apprehended Sujan Dutta from his residence at 4:30 pm today and recovered the stolen oil and vehicle.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the other suspects involved in the case, Pradeep Dey added.
