One held with 8 gold bars in Jashore

JASHORE, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a man with eight gold bars weighing 1 kg 20 grams from Murali crossing area in Sadar upazila this morning.
 
The arrested man was Sheikh Aliullah, 55, son of Sheikh Arijullah of Madhyakatiya village in Satkhira Sadar upazila. 
 
On a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a raid in Murali crossing area around 6.30 am, arrested Aliullah and recovered the gold bars after searching his body, said Lt. Col. Saifullah Siddiqui commander of Jashore BGB-49 Battalion.
 
The gold bars were brought from Dhaka via Jashore for smuggling to India.
 
The BGB commander said that the value of the recovered gold is estimated at Taka 1 crore 83 lakh 24 thousands.
 
During initial questioning, Aliullah confessed that he collected the gold bars from smugglers in Dhaka's Jatrabari area and intended to take them to the Jashore border for smuggling.
 
A case has been filed, and Aliullah has been handed over to Jashore Kotwali Police Station.
