PANCHAGARH, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) – A schoolboy was electrocuted in Tetulia upazila here.

The deceased was identified as Asif Rana, 15, son of Nur Jamal of Chutchutia Gachh area under Tirnoihat union. He was a ninth-grade student of Shalbahan High School.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening when Asif came in contact with a live electric wire while trying to connect power to a light holder at his uncle Abdur Razzak’s kitchen, said Jahangir Alam, member of Ward No. 5 of Tirnoihat Union Parishad, quoting the victim’s family.

He was immediately rescued and taken to Tetulia Upazila Health Complex where the attending doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tetulia Model Police Station Musa Mia said the body was handed over to the family after completing legal formalities. 

A case of unnatural death has been lodged with the police station.
