BAGERHAT, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has rescued a
tourist alive who was swept away by the tidal current while taking a bath
during the Ras Purnima Puja [Punyasnan] festival held at Dublar Char in the
Sundarbans.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon, confirmed by Coast Guard Media
Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq this evening.

He said a tourist went to the seashore to take a bath around 12 noon when he
was suddenly swept away by the tidal water. Upon receiving the information,
the Coast Guard Outpost Dublar Char rushed to the spot and conducted a rescue
operation by its ship 'Swadhin Bangla'.

During the operation, the missing tourist was rescued alive from the sea area
adjacent to Dublar Char. The process of handing over the rescued person to
his relative is underway after providing immediate first aid.

Lt Commander Siam-ul-Haq also said, "Bangladesh Coast Guard is always ready
to serve humanity and such rescue operations will continue in the future."

Meanwhile, thousands of pilgrims and tourists gathered at Dublar Char, a
remote coastal island in the Sundarbans, annually to celebrate Ras Purnima
Puja or Ras Puja/Punyasnan.
