Illegally stored 106 bags of Govt fertilizer seized in Sherpur

SHERPUR, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Upazila Administration today seized 106 bags of government fertilizer illegally stored in Sribardi upazila here in the district.

The fertilizers were recovered around midnight from the house of pesticide trader Mosharaf Hossain Babu in Bhayadanga Baniapara village under Ranishimul Union of the upazila. The operation was led by Sribardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Monisha Ahmed.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Mahmudul Hasan Akand, Panel Chairman of Ranishimul Union Suja, and local residents were present during the operation.

According to the upazila administration, Mosharaf Hossain Babu had collected the government fertilizers from dealers and stored them at his house. 

Acting on secret information, the administration and police conducted a raid and seized 66 bags of MOP and 40 bags of DAP fertilizers, totaling 106 bags, which were handed over to the custody of the Upazila Agriculture Officer. 

The fertilizers were hoarded with the intent to sell those to farmers at higher prices.

UNO Monisha Ahmed said legal action is being taken in connection with the illegal hoarding of fertilizers.
