
KHULNA, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS) - The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) conducted drives across Khulna division on Sunday and fined 10 business establishments a total of Tk 1.41 lakh for various irregularities, including selling goods at excessive prices and producing food items illegally.
Eight monitoring teams of DNCRP carried out the operations simultaneously in different districts - Khulna, Jashore, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Satkhira, Magura and others, checking prices and verifying purchase vouchers of essentials like rice, edible oil, gas, vegetables, eggs, and medicines.
In Khulna city's Daulatpur area, teams led by Assistant Directors Dinara Zaman and Pronab Kumar Pramanik fined several restaurants and shops for unhygienic food production and improper labeling practices.
The teams in other districts also imposed fines on errant establishments Tk 25,000 in Jhenaidah, Tk 20,000 in Satkhira, Tk 10,000 in Magura, Tk 8,000 in Kushtia, Tk 5,000 in Jashore, and Tk 62,000 in Khulna district.
Officials warned traders against charging prices above government-fixed rates and instructed them to display price lists visibly and maintain proper sales records.
During the drives, business owners were also advised to maintain hygiene standards and comply with consumer protection laws to avoid punitive actions in the future.
