PATUAKHALI, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court has demolished the 'Famous Bricks' brick kiln illegally established in Santoshdi area on the banks of Lohalia river in Dumki upazila of the district.

The chimney, furnace and entire structure were demolished with excavators in a drive led by Executive Magistrate Sajan Basak at 2 pm today.

The administration said that the kiln, established on khas land and cropland, had been producing bricks for a long time without following environmental regulations. 

The fire service destroyed the raw bricks by spraying water. Local sources said that during the drive last year, the kiln owners and workers attacked government officials. 

The drive was conducted again as the kiln was reopened even after partial demolition. The administration said that the drive against illegal brick kilns will continue to protect the environment and agricultural land.
